Matcha presentation box IMG_0368

In Japan Matcha tea is revered

The tea is in fact so highly prized that it enjoys its very own ceremony

An intrinsic and influential part of Japanese tradition, the ceremony ensures Matcha is prepared with due attention and care

Matcha is stored in an airtight caddie, usually of fine porcelain.

There are 3 utensils used to prepare Matcha

1. A wide-rimmed bowl, known as the ‘chawan’

2. A tea whisk made of fine bamboo. It is called the ‘chasen’

3. The long, thin spoon is called a ‘chashaku’ (Notice how, like chashitsu, our name derives from part of this word)

The chasen and chashaku can be purchased separately or with the chawan in a lovely, authentic presentation box
